The Nile Basin Development Challenge (Nile BDC), funded by the Challenge Program for Water and Food is now in its final year of implementation and we are now focusing in on distilling down the key findings from their research. As part of this process the Nile BDC is planning a further meeting under the umbrella of the of the National Platform on Land and Water Management on Feb 20-21 2013. This meeting will have a strong focus on the work of the Nile BDC to date – we will present some summaries of research and seek feedback sought from experts on the relevance of the research and how it might be used to bring about more effective rainwater management in Ethiopia.

Objectives
  • To reflect on the Nile BDC - what happened in the program so far and what have has been produced?
  • To gather feedback on the current work - what findings and recommendations can be made more relevant and useful for the wider NRM community and how?
  • To engage a group of stakeholders for the rest of the program (particularly around policy and practice implications): what should be priorities for the remainder of the Nile BDC?
